Verve - Love is Noise 'Promo Video'

Haunted

"Alternative futures haunt me....."

Photosinferno 2008

Explanation of context here

Morrissey & Thoughts.....

'There is something I wanted to tell you, It's so funny you'll kill yourself laughing

But then I, I look around, And I remember that I am alone, Alone. For evermore........'

Quoted from the track 'Come Back to Camden' off the Album 'You Are the Quarry' by Morrissey

NIN 'We're in this Together' Lyrics

We're in This Together

I've become impossible

holding on to when

when everything seemed to matter more

the two of us

all used and beaten up

watching fate as it flows

down the path we have chose

You and me

we're in this together now

none of them can stop us now

we will make it through somehow

You and me

if the world should break in two

until the very end of me

until the very end of you

Awake to the sound

as they peel apart the skin

they pick and they pull

trying to get their fingers in

well they've got to kill what we've found

well they've got to hate what they fear

well they've got to make it go away

well they've got to make it disappear

The farther I fall I'm beside you

as lost as I get I will find you

the deeper the wound I'm inside you

for ever and ever I am a part of...

You and me

we're in this together now

none of them can stop us now

we will make it through somehow

You and me

if the world should break in two

until the very end of me

until the very end of you

All that we were is gone we have to hold on

all that we were is gone we have to hold on

all that we were is gone we have to hold on

all that we were is gone

but we can hold on.....

You and me

we're in this together now

none of them can stop us now

we will make it through somehow

You and me

even after everything

you're the queen and I'm the king

nothing else means anything

Verve 'Love is Noise' Lyrics

Love is Noise

Will those feet in modern times
Walk on soles that are made in China?
Feel the bright prosaic malls
And the corridors that go on and on and on

Are we blind can we see?
We are one incomplete
Are we blind in the city?
Waiting Politely to be saved in

Cause love is noise, love is pain
Love is these blues that I'm singing again
Love is noise, love is pain
Love is these blues I'm singing again, again, again, again, again

Will those feet in modern times
Understand this world's affliction?
Recognize the righteous anger
Understand this world's addiction

I was blind couldn't see
What was here in me
I was blind, insecure
Felt like the road's way too long, yeah

Cause love is noise, love is pain
Love is these blues that I'm singing again
Love is noise, love is pain
Love is these blues that I'm singing again
Love is noise, love is pain
Love is these blues that I'm feeling again
Love is noise, love is pain
Love is these blues that I'm singing again, again, again, again, again, again, again

Cause love is noise, love is pain
Love is these blues that your feeling again
Love is noise, love is pain
Love is these blues that I'm singing again, again, again, again

Will those feet in modern times
Walk on soles made in China?
Will those feet in modern times
See the bright prosaic malls?
Will those feet in modern times
Recognize every buddha?
Will those feet in modern times
Pardon me from my sins?
Love is noise

Verve 2008

'Love is Noise' is released in the Uk on 4th of August 2008
Taken from the Album 'Forth' to be released in the UK on 25th August 2008.

Interesting thing about these lyrics is either I've got the wrong Verve 'video' for this tune or everybody else is just plagiarizing the wrong lyrics. Because the ones that are out there do not tie in with the 'Single' release ...unless those lyrics are for an extended/Album mix?

Placebo 'Soulmates' Lyrics

Soulmates

The sea's evaporated,
Though it comes as no surprise
These clouds we're seeing,
They're explosions in the sky
It seems it's written,
But we can't read between the line

Hush, it's okay, dry your eye
Dry your eye
Soulmate dry your eye
Dry your eye
Soulmate dry your eye,
Soulmates never die

~This one world vision turns us into compromise~
What good's religion when it's each other we despise?
Damn the government damn their killing, damn their lies
~It's okay~

Dry your eyes
Soulmate dry your eyes
Dry your eyes
Soulmate dry your eyes,
cos' soulmates never die

Soulmates never die
Soulmates never die
Soulmates never die
Soulmates never die

Never die

Soulmates never die
Soulmates never die

Life Solution

= The solution to all your problems!

If only Life was a simple to use as a Mac....I wish!

Countdown

12 Days to go ......

Part of your Soul ?

A longtime ago ..well all things are relative when you reach my age to be honest....
I went to the Walker Art Gallery ,at the time it was to see a particular painting D.G. Rossetti had done concerning Dante seeing Beatrice by chance in the street.

However what I have 'walked through the rest of my life with' (held to my soul so to speak) is a piece by George Fredrick Watts entitled Hope.

I have no idea why this painting should have such a 'hold' over me, but it does and that's that really. I stopped in my tracks when I saw it, it is only small compared to the other paintings in the room- and yet it called out to me ...my eyes could not turn away, I sat riveted soaking up the atmosphere of this simple but effective beyond belief work of art and yes it was burned into my soul from that day on.

The whole art of the the pre-Raphaelites with it's victorian melodrama (for surely that is how it fits in the scheme of things) is a strong pull for those searching for emotional escape from a reality that is found 'wanting' of love, desire and virtue.
At a tender age I embraced it as an alternative to a cruel world. I realize now that The symbolism movement is more based on reality and removes the sweet 'fantasy' of Ophelia to replace it with 'Harder' images that need to be drilled down into so that the reality you achieve is not what you first saw- 'reading the painting' is maybe how this could be described.

Anyway I digress Art is art but in my mind It's a desire to portray the world as you see it - and not for anybody else to question, for it is your vision.

Leonard Cohen 'Avalanche' Lyrics

Avalanche

I stepped into an avalanche,
it covered up my soul
when I am not this hunchback that you see,
I sleep beneath the golden hill.
You who wish to conquer pain,
you must learn, learn to serve me well.

You strike my side by accident
as you go down for your gold.
The cripple here that you clothe and feed
is neither starved nor cold;
he does not ask for your company,
not at the centre, the centre of the world.

When I am on a pedestal,
you did not raise me there.
Your laws do not compel me
to kneel grotesque and bare.
I myself am the pedestal
for this ugly hump at which you stare.

You who wish to conquer pain,
you must learn what makes me kind;
the crumbs of love that you offer me,
they're the crumbs I've left behind.
Your pain is no credential here,
it's just the shadow, shadow of my wound.

I have begun to long for you,
I who have no greed;
I have begun to ask for you,
I who have no need.
You say you've gone away from me,
but I can feel you when you breathe.

Do not dress in those rags for me,
I know you are not poor;
don't love me quite so fiercely now
when you know that you are not sure,
it is your turn, beloved,
it is your flesh that I wear.

Who wanted to rule the world
The fools
They locked up the wrong man"

The Dark Knight....Batman reborn?

Well I've seen 'The Dark Knight' and to be honest it is fantastic....dark, marauding, malevolent and true to the 'Spirit of The Dark Knight comic.
Christian Bale wavers a bit in the film but Batman does not- he reigns supreme over the chaos that is Gotham City.
Supporting the Chaos theory full throttle is Heath Ledger as the Joker (complete with nods to the Arkham Asylum comic character)

You could say it is a tale of two cities...
One that wants to be reborn via Batman...so the caped crusader can hang up his cape once and for all - though we all know Heroes do not retire they die.
The joker on the other hand wants chaos for chaos sake, and therefore to bring the City to it's knees - so that it may face upto what it really is rather than what it believes it is or could be.

This film really is that deep in the way it plays out it's strands of the story - yea there's denied love, hope, fights, action and big bangs. However the way it is all weaved together is like a comic book every scene tells a story of the characters portrayal through the cities eyes... and it is played out against the backdrop of Gotham beautifully.

Ultimately that is why it works, the principal and minor characters are fighting for the soul of Gotham.

Keane 'Try Again' Lyrics

Try Again

I fell asleep on a late night train
I missed my stop and I went round again
Why would I want to see you now?
To fix it up, make it up somehow

Baby I'll try again, try again
Baby I die every night, every time

What I was isn't what I am
I'd change back but I don't know if I can

Still I'll try, try again, try again
Baby I die every night, every time

But I was made the way I am
I'm not a stone; I'm just a man
Lay down your arms and I will lay down mine
Rip back the time that we've been wasting

God I wish you could see me now
You'd pick me up and you'd sort me out

Still I'll try, try again, try again
Baby I die every night, every time

I don't want anything from anyone anymore, I've had enough of being misunderstood - misinformed and ridiculed by people with an IQ about seven circles beneath me...

All I've known, All I understand, I've fought for.

I've kicked against the pricks to get to this.

Red Light Company 'Ship Song' Lyrics

Ship Song

Darling we should break out

And I would help you with the cinematic strip lights

They're all blinding you

You can have my flashlight

Wouldn't let the birds keep picking at your breadcrumbs

Darling we should break out, I would miss you

But you know I've got a problem, and it spreads

It's like speak another language you can hear me

But it's covered in my fortune

We were on a sinking ship

I guess you know ohh noo ohh ohh

I guess it was a daytrip

At least (?)ohh ohh noo

Darling we should break out, I would miss you

But you know I've got a problem, and it spreads

It's like speak another language you can hear me

But it's covered in my fortune

We were on a sinking ship

I guess you know ohh noo ohh ohh

I guess it was a daytrip

At least (?)ohh ohh no

We were on a sinking ship

I guess you know ohh ohh ohh noo

I guess it was a daytrip

At least (?)noo ohh ohh

We we're on a sinking ship

I guess you know ohh ohh noo

I guess it was a daytrip

At least (?)noo ahh ohh

Coldplay 'Free Track Download' Death Will Never Conquer

Coldplay are giving away a free track via their Website .

Have to say i'm not surprised it's free wouldn't make a C side never mind a B side ah well at least it's free. Even if it is rather 'Pooh'.
Shame it's not the track 'How you see the world' - not sure if this is a new track or if it's just now seen the light via the Coldplay widget?

Anyway enjoy :)

Hockenheim GP 2008 'Awards'

Driver of the Day

Lewis Hamilton for just showing the other teams eg: Ferrari and BMW why McLaren are never a force to be discounted.

The improvements McLaren brought to Silverstone (but never got to really show due to the weather) and therefore unleashed on the Hockenheim grid stunned the chasing pack and made a mockery of both Ferrari and BMW - which in BMW's case was embrassing because they were racing in Germany! (Ouch!)

Muppet of the Day

Well I only have to use one photograph to show the driver and the muppet on the track at the same time. Felipe Massa for 'letting' Lewis Hamilton pass him like he was a back marker, this I do not expect from a Ferrari driver and the 'Tifosi' will not be to happy about that.I know for one I wasn't , and questions are already being asked about the 'quality' of the Ferrari drivers over recent races. Sorry Massa but you get the Muppet award.

Dead Can Dance 'In Power we entrust the love advocated' lyrics

Sail on silver wings

Through this storm

what fortune love may bring

back to my arms again

The love

Of a former golden age

I am disabled by fears concerning which course to take.

For, now that wheels are turning,

I find my faith deserting me...

This night is filled with cries of

dispossesed children in search of Paradise.

A sign of unresolve that,

envisioned, drives the pinwheel on-and-on.

I am disabled by fears concerning which course to take.

When memory bears witness to

the innocence, consumed in dying rage!

The way lies through our love;

there can be no other means to the end,

Or keys to my heart...

you will never find.

You will never find

Iphone 3G....

Well I've seen one in the flesh (today) in the O2 shop.
I think it is a nicer phone overall to look at compared to the Iphone V1, the plastic back does not feel tacky at all very similar feel to the Macbook plastic in-fact.
It's supposed to be 'bigger' but it does not feel or look like that in the hand.

The thing that is most appealing (as a V1 user) is the 'Apps store' but to do this you need to update to the V2.0 SDK, which is not an option for me at the moment due to mine being 'non official' shall we say. So a bit of a wait there methinks.

The 16GB version which is the only one at this moment available in white ...gotta be 'Apple' white ..... black is just so not cool or Apple.

There is no doubt in my mind that this is the best Mobile phone on the market, you can talk specifications of camera's/ MMS (like how often do you use it ..really!!) / blah blah blah ....but Apple have put the all the bit's together and made a smartphone that the end user can pick up and use without having to read the manual- the one that comes with the Iphone V1 is 8 pages long and most of that is pictures.

For anybody with a mac it is the defacto choice in fact only choice .....everything else is 'just a mobile phone'

If you have a Pc (Spit) I think it works just as well but can't really comment as I'd never have one even if it was free..well I would but I'd sell it and put the money towards buying a new mac lol

Oh and to finish on a note:
What I suspected has come true. Inline with Apples 'Let's improve something but while we are doing that lets take something away' ...There's no Dock in the box This will cost you £19.00 as a separate item.

The Day the Earth Stood Still Remake

I can't believe they are remaking this film.

One of the definite 'Atomic age' films of the 50's.

Probably end up being like the hash that was 'The war of the worlds' remake, no substance no style.....and no hope - seeing as it's got the 'actor' Keanu Reeves in it...says it all really.
And a really simple plot incase anybody has to actually think during the movie.
God I'm depressed about this idea already...and it doesn't come out till December...
It's all going to go "Klaatu barada nikto.

Red Light Company 'First We Land' Lyrics

First We Land

Obstructions in this mind
Subtract just to find that it multiplies
So I wanted this time reach out
I wanted to
You wanted to
Distractions and dressed eyes
So cover up in time just to realize
I wanted to this time be found
I wanted to

Only hurts when we date
Identify you can say
First we land
Only works when we kiss
Only hurts when we date
Identify you can say
First we land
Only works when we kiss

Distractions to get by
Something I need it's a friend of mine
I wanted to this time reach out
I wanted to
You wanted to

Dead brakes in the cold lights
In a mess and it's me that I can't still hide
I wanted to this time be found
I wanted to

Only hurts when we date
Identify you can say
First we land
It only works when we kiss
Only hurts when we date
Identify you can say
First we land
It only works when we kiss

British GP 2008 'Awards'

Driver of the Day

Rubens Barrichello - for yet again showing his mastery of the silverstone circuit in the wet (2002 anybody?).
A roll of the dice and Rubens was off up to ten seconds faster than anybody on the track due to the gamble of 'extreme' wet tyres...he took the chance and drove supremely to third place and the podium, while those around (ahem Ferrari!!) fell over each other in the conditions.

Muppet of the day
Well though it pains me to say this ...it's gotta be the Ferrari team - a good day out lads - if your aim is to make numpty's of yourselves in front of a worldwide audience.....

NIN Remix 'Lights in the Sky' from the Album 'The Slip'

Well this is the 7th mix I've done of NIN tracks, and now I've started to stay within the logic environment. Having moved on from the 'limitations' of Garageband - though cool loops for GB !!

This mix is notable for the fact I cut up the lyrics and took out all ref to the Title of the track , and rewrote the vocals for a different emotional feel.

Also three tracks from the album 'The Slip' were used in the mix (999,999/Corona Radiata and of course Lights in the sky.

The enjoyable thing about this mix was (as Opposed to 'Head Down (White Noise)') It actually took less than three days for the mix to come together, I'm sure I could have chopped up a bit more -and i may revisit that in the future- but the track just organically grew in my head and on the computer and the 'mix' was the tweaking that took the time on the last day.

Anyway hope you like it ...let me know.

The Sisters of Mercy 'Marian (Version)' Lyrics

Marian (Version)

In a sea of faces,in a sea of doubt
In this cruel place your voice above the maelstrom
In the wake of this ship of fools I'm falling further down
If you can see me, Marian, reach out and take me home.....

I hear you calling Marian
Across the water, across the wake
I hear you calling Marian
Can you hear me calling you to
Save me, save me, save me from the

Marian

Marian, there's a weight above me
And the pressure is all too strong
To breathe deep
Breathe long and hard
To take the water down and go to sleep
To sink still further
Beneath the fatal wave
Marian I think I'm drowning
This sea is killing me

I hear you calling Marian
Across the water, across the waves
I hear you calling Marian
Can you hear me calling you to
Save me, save me, save me from the
Grave...

Was ich kann und was ich konnte (What I can do and what I could do)
Weiss ich gar nicht mehr (I just don't know anymore)
Gib mir wieder etwas schoenes (Give me something beautiful again)
Zieh mich aus dem meer (Drag me from the sea)
Ich hoere dich rufen Marian (I hear you calling Marian)
Kannst du mich schreien hoeren (Can you hear me calling?)
Ich bin hier allein (I am here alone)
Ich hoere dich rufen Marian (I hear you calling Marian)
Ohne deine hilfe verliere ich mich in diesem ort(Without your help I am lost
in this place)

I hear you calling Marian
Across the water, across the waves
I hear you calling Marian
Can you hear me calling you to
Save me, save me, save me from the
Grave...
